Olivia goes for Gold…
Muay Thai has been part of Olivia’s life for five years now. Through hard training and experience she has had a successful run in the national and international fight circuit. Holding an impressive record of 11-2, with 5 KO/TKO’s, Olivia was named one of Ontario’s top Muay Thai prospects by The Fight Network. Olivia now has the opportunity to represent Canada on the world stage in Minsk, Belarus at the 2017 IFMA World Championships.
In November 2016, Olivia competed in the Open Class Elite Female 60kg category in Muay Thai Canada’s first National tournament. She was set up for two hard fights to claim her spot on top of the podium. It had been a while since she last fought, and the first fight was tough. After the first round, she felt at home in the ring again and found her rhythm quickly.
Through determination, heart, and hard work Olivia pulled off a dominant victory on the first day. Her fight in the finals was confirmed. She rested up, cut some weight, and prepared for another battle.
Olivia was so excited going into the championship fight and was riding the momentum from the previous day and felt so lucky to be in the ring two days in a row. She found her rhythm quickly and fought two hard rounds before her opponents corner threw in the towel. Olivia is now Muay Thai Canada’s first ever 60kg female Open Class Champion. Through high intensity performances, she also took home the Best Female Athlete of the tournament award.
Being the champion, solidified Olivia’s spot to on Team Canada to represent her country at the IFMA World Championships in Minsk, Belarus this May. Considered the most elite professional/amateur tournament in Muay Thai, Olivia feels more ready than ever to compete against and alongside the best in the world.
The tournament runs from May 3 – 13 2017. With your help, Olivia and her coaches – Kru Darwin Miranda and Loni Gibson, will travel to compete in Minsk, Belarus, with winning the World Title on our minds.
All funding will be used for the training camp, flights, hotels and tournament fees as they represent Canada on the world stage. Olivia takes a lot of pride in representing her home country, and she is determined to show the world the skills she has.
